Here is what the Australia-themed math addition cards look like. The brown framed cards on the left are the problem cards and students are to match each problem card to the green framed answer cards on the right.
There will be 12 Heading Cards for each set of themed Factually Speaking. Students place the Heading Cards 0-12 on the floor and place each problem card and answer card under the correct heading card. The Heading Cards for the Australia-themed Factually Speaking set is a yummy vegemite sandwich!
Beginning to build the Addition Table using the 0-5 Answer Key and the addition problem cards and answer cards. Whoops! I forgot to give her the heading cards - no vegemite sandwiches!
Ta-da completed building the Factually Speaking Addition Facts 0-12 Table - minus the vegemite sandwich headings we forgot! Once students have completed building the addition table, I begin questioning. What patterns do you see? Vertically? Horizontally? What if anything stands out to you or surprises you? How can this help you in memorizing the addition facts?
