This is the Royalty Classroom Transformation. The photo backdrop hanging over part of the white board I ordered from Amazon. The felt purple and green banners hanging from the ceiling i bought at The Dollar Tree. The gray plastic tablecloths I purchased at Hobby Lobby for $1.00 - I got one purple tablecloth and cut for the middle part of the table. The crowns I ordered from Amazon. I took each students photo in front of the backdrop as they wore their crown and held the dragon puppet and book Where's the Dragon? by Jason Hook (both puppet and book purchased from Barnes and Noble. Display of Royalty themed books and activities. This metal crown is huge - a local thrift store was going to throw it away and so I got it for free. It is 5 feet long and 3 feet tall. This is a picture of the back wall in our classroom - royalty books, puppets, games, puzzles, etc. Themed posters ( the silver plastic shield in the middle of the bulletin board I got at Dollar Tree). This is a mini reading center of choice for students to read books about castles. Royalty-themed math books. If you would like to do a Royalty-themed Classroom Transformation - here a some Royalty-Themed resources in my Teacher Pay Teachers store. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Escape-Room-Series-Dungeon-A-Second-Grade-Common-Core-Math-Review-3136113 https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Royalty-Number-Match-Up-5566163 https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Differentiated-Read-and-Write-Around-the-Room-King-Midas-and-the-Golden-Touch-2431321 https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Royalty-Series-Good-Knight-Homophones-2600342
This was one of my first classroom transformations at the beginning of September after attending Get Your Teach On 2018 in San Diego. The second graders loved this week and all the learning that took place - many thanks to the presenters Hope King and Amy Lemons! This was the room seating arrangement - with 4 groups of four students and one group of 8 students. The large Lego containers, Lego glasses, blow up dice, Lego balloons, and table cloth I ordered from Amazon. The large crayon filled with Building Blocks I purchased at Sam's. The large building blocks on the white board were created with bulletin board paper and the plates I bought at Hobby Lobby and put magnetic tape on the back. The above four pictures is just a closer look at each table that seated four students. Lego glasses - students were able to build on their own glasses to represent something about themselves as one of our getting to know you activities at the beginning of the year! Lego pencils also from Amazon. We did many math standards with this Anchor Chart I made using the lettering clip art from Edu Clips on Teachers Pay Teachers and Rainbow Building Blocks Clipart by Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Designs. The "My Favorite Color Building Block font is (I Need a Heart Font) from Kimberly Gershwin fonts. Students chose their favorite color block and built with building blocks from the floor up. I forgot to take a picture before we put the blocks away! Once the towers were built students answered questions of which tower has the most blocks, which has the least, how many more blocks are red than yellow, if we added the green tower and the blue tower how many in all, etc. This stand I ordered from Amazon and switched out the themes each week with the different room transformations. The fraction lesson is from Lucky Little Learners on TpT. Toy Story books from Barnes and Noble and Amazon, Lego popcorn containers, Lego drinking cups, and candy holders are from Amazon. You know some of the Lego's came to life and jumped right up off the tables! :) All the Lego's costumes are from Wal-Mart. This is an All About Me activity that we were given at the Get Your Teach On Conference. After the second graders finished theirs they put it in their Leader In Me Notebooks section All About Me. Closer look at the popcorn holders and water bottles from Amazon. This was another activity from the Get Your Teach On Conference where students built a structure that would hold two army men and three aliens. Using pipe cleaners and play dough each group worked on the task of building a tree that would hold the barrel of monkeys without any monkey touching the desk top. All the groups were successful!
