FACTUALLY SPEAKING
WHAT IS FACTUALLY SPEAKING?
Factually Speaking is the name I gave to a themed set of math fact cards. One student says the problem and other student calls the answer - students are "speaking" about math facts! Some students like math and some do not. I have found that the students who do not like math facts are sometimes more likely to be interested if you can attach the math facts to something they are interested in like ladybugs or race cars. Also, there are themed sets that can go with books for example, pig/spider to go with Charlotte's Web.
WHAT CAN I USE IT FOR?
- As a regular set of flash cards - students can work with a partner
- To get students moving they can lay out the problem cards and answer cards to show fact families - the cards are large enough that they will need floor space( see answer sheet for lay out)
- Students can use for practice as independent work at their seats or the cards can be put at a center
- Store in a zip lock bag and students can take home for homework math fact practice
WHAT CAN MY STUDENTS LEARN FROM THIS?
Students will learn basic math facts and have a fun and interesting theme while doing it!
